The North Los Angeles County Regional Center disclosed a ransomware attack affecting approximately 298,600 individuals. The compromised information reportedly included combinations of names, Social Security numbers, medical information, health insurance information and other personal data relating to individuals receiving developmental disability services. The organization stated that attackers accessed and copied files before encrypting systems. Given the size of the affected population and the sensitivity of the data, this represents one of the larger healthcare-related disclosures of the year.
