Attackers remotely seized refrigeration controllers running older Danfoss software at several French supermarket chains on a Sunday night, then warmed the cases by triggering the built-in defrost cycle. French outlets put it at 250 to 350 stores; Intermarché blames a reported compromise of a service provider managing its in-store refrigeration. Nobody has said how they got in or who they were. The sabotage itself was just a defrost feature, working exactly as designed for whoever held the remote controls.
