Liquid NetworkSep 2026
Liquid Network's federation wallet held 4,200 Bitcoin behind a single point of failure, and roughly 4,000 of it left through SideSwap, the settlement rail the network itself authorized. Liquid insists the key was never compromised, which only relocates the flaw: a preliminary read points to a bug that let L-BTC be minted outright, no key needed. The source names no attacker, no confirmed fix, and calls it 'white-hat' anyway, a label that describes a hope, not a fact. A federation of eighty companies still built one wallet that a single bug could empty.
